This tower is inspired by the representation of strength, grace and transparency in skyscraper design.
The building is oriented towards the Huangpu river, which pays homage to Shanghai's historical artery of commerce. Situated in the premiere Pudong district, the steel and glass edifice was intended to hold its own in the surrounding neighbourhood of similar highrises. It pierces the sky and towers above its low-rise podium like a space shuttle poised for launch.
The slenderness of the building is partially accentuated by a slight bow of the vertical form, which gives the architecture its distinct masculinity.
