Design Brief
A world-class resort accommodation that introduces local art and craft into a luxurious interior amidst the lush tropical greenery of the private island near Lombok.
“Our familiarity with luxury projects in the tropics, starting with the Black Bamboo Resort, has enabled our firm to create custom design interiors even for the most exotic varieties anywhere in the world.”
Design Concept
Our design offers a peerless experience of seamless transitions from the comfort of the indoors to the spirit of adventure outdoors. We proposed a luxurious collection of Water and Hillside Villas together with Garden and Beachfront Suites. Remaining true to its purpose as a private getaway surrounded by lush tropical greenery, pristine turquoise waters and more than one kilometre of continuous fine sandy beaches, the Black Bamboo Resort is not just another typical beachfront property but one crafted by local artisans and builders.
The Villas
Set above the coral reef with a private stairway directly leading from the large patios into the water below, the Water Villas stretch across the shallow atoll like sinuous strands of seaweed. On land, Hillside Villas project beyond the sloping terrain like sea fans to offer an unmatched views of the dormant volcano Mount Rinjani and the calming ocean water with its beautiful sunsets.
The Suites
Across the verdant landscape, Beachfront Suites are featured as sea anemones with direct access to white-sand beaches and private saltwater pools. Transitioning to a higher point of the island, the family-friendly Garden Suites are designed and strategically allocated to provide convenient access to the various restaurants, entertainment and recreational activities. These suites are specially designed to accommodate couples or large families. Each suite features generous living areas and wide terraces that lead directly to the beautifully landscaped outdoor lawns and beach.
The challenge to conceive an exclusive resort on this private island proved to be an exciting milestone for our team of architects and interior designers. Our understanding of the needs of well-heeled travellers is key to the initial design inspiration. And our familiarity with luxury projects in the tropics, starting with the Black Bamboo Resort, has enabled our firm to create custom design interiors even for the most exotic varieties anywhere in the world.

Design Brief
A world-class resort accommodation that is lush in tropical greenery, making full use of its advantages of proximity to the pristine turquoise waters of Lombok.
Design Concept
Remaining true to its purpose as a world-class resort accommodation surrounded by lush tropical greenery, pristine turquoise waters and more than one kilometre of continuous fine sandy beaches, the Black Bamboo Resorts is not just another typical beachfront property. Crafted by local artisans and builders, the resort features an envious variety of garden and beachfront suites along with coral cliffs and water villas, as well as comfortably appointed low rise suites.
Set above the coral reef with a private stairway directly leading into the water from each of the large patios, the exclusive Water Villas stretch across the shallow coral atoll, resembling sinuous strands of seaweed. Across the verdant landscape, Spacious Gardens and Beachfront Suites are featured as sea anemones with direct access to white-sand beaches and private pool lagoons, while Coral Cliff Villas hug the sloping terrain like sea fans, offering an unmatched vantage point of the dormant volcano Mount Rinjani and the calming ocean water with its beautiful sunsets.
Transitioning to a higher point of the island, the family-friendly Low Rise Suites are designed and strategically allocated to allow for convenient access to the various restaurants, entertainment and recreational activities at the resort, while the Garden and Beachfront Suites – with their airy layouts, are specially crafted to comfortably accommodate up to three adults or two adults and two children. Each suite features generously high ceilings, with the living areas and furnished terraces leading directly to the beautifully landscaped outdoor lawns and beach, creating a peerless experience of seamless transitions from the comfort of the indoors to the adventures of the outside.
Through expertise in tropical-design methodologies and experience in a wide-range of projects at various scales, the challenges of developing exclusive beachfront hospitality projects that are not just mediocre but breathtaking, proved not to be a challenge for the architects and planners at Winstudio. An understanding of the preferences and lifestyles of the modern-day traveller and adventure-seeker is key to the successful implementation of such developments, and being familiar to designing key luxury projects in the tropical context enabled our architects to fashion sound and rational design solutions even at the most exotic destinations and design typologies which are foreign to Singapore.
